OUR MISSION

BETTER SUPPORT FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE

WHO WE SERVE

ADVOCATING FOR UNDERSERVED SURVIVORS

The Ruth Cheatham Foundation is dedicated to supporting teen and young adult cancer survivors, ages 17 to 26, who often face unique challenges that go beyond their health.

These young adults frequently experience financial hardships and limited access to higher education opportunities due to the lasting impacts of their cancer journey.

Our programs are designed to uplift and empower these underserved survivors by providing scholarships, academic support, and essential resources tailored to their specific needs during this critical phase of life.

WHAT WE DO

SUPPORT BEYOND SCHOLARSHIPS

For teen and young adult cancer survivors, the path forward is often filled with invisible obstacles: emotional, financial, and academic. At TRCF, we meet them at that crossroads with meaningful, ongoing support.

Everything we do is rooted in one goal: helping young survivors reclaim their futures.

We provide more than just scholarships. We offer connection, encouragement, and practical tools that help survivors return to school, stay on track, and thrive.

OUR PROGRAMS

WHY IT MATTERS

CANCER SHOULDN’T CANCEL OPPORTUNITY

Teens and young adults with cancer are often caught in a gap where they are too old for pediatric support and too young for adult systems. As a result, they’re one of the most underserved cancer populations in the U.S.

There are few dedicated resources for what comes after treatment: finishing high school, applying to college, managing student debt, or simply adjusting to life as a survivor.

Educational support is especially rare, despite the fact that most teen and young adult survivors are at a pivotal point in their academic journey when they’re diagnosed. This lack of targeted support often creates lasting setbacks in education, employment, and mental health.

That’s why TRCF steps in to bridge the gap. We’re not just helping young survivors gain access to a higher education, we’re giving them a fair shot at the future they deserve.
